\nImpromptu Drama <\/span><\/b>Competition<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n

\nOn July
\n2nd<\/sup>, St. Dominic\u2019s held an impromptu drama competition as a chance
\nfor the girls to gain points for their houses – Bologna, Calaroga, and Prouille.
\n<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe
\ngirls were given an hour and a half to write and rehearse a short play
about
\nMother Aubert.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\n This was a wonderful opportunity for the girls to learn about
\nMother Aubert – who will hopefully be the first canonized saint of New Zealand.
\nThey all did a marvelous job, but the judges had to pick a winner. <\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n

\n<\/span><\/div>\n

\nOn July 16<\/span>th<\/sup>, girls from the school, <\/span>with the Children of Mary, <\/span>spent a day of recollection given by the sisters. Throughout the day, they attended a variety of conferences on various topics regarding the dignity of a woman. <\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n

\nIn addition to the talks, the girls attended Mass, rosary, and were able to make several visits to the Blessed Sacrament. <\/span><\/div>\n

\nHappy Feast of Signadou!<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n

\nThe
\nboarders celebrated their feast day early with the Sisters on July 20th<\/sup>.
\nOn coming back from a week holiday, the boarders were surprised with presents,
\na decorated refectory, delicious dinner and dessert with the Sisters. <\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\nThe
\ngirls also had a surprise of their own for Mother Madeleine for her upcoming
\nfeast day. They put on a short musical concert featuring several songs from the
\nmusical <\/span>Oliver.<\/i><\/div>\n
\n
<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\n
<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n
\nHow
\nSignadou got its name…<\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nOn
\nJuly 22nd<\/sup>, 1206, Saint Dominic prayed to the Blessed Mother for a
\nsign to show him what exactly he should do and where he should centre his work.
\nIt was then that a flaming ball appeared in the sky hovering over a little
\nabandoned church of Prouille. This happened three times before St. Dominic took
\nthe sign as authentic and not a product of his imagination. This miraculous
\nvision is know as Signadou –<\/i> the sign
\nof God – and was the foundation of the Order of Preachers.<\/span><\/div>\n
\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/span><\/div>\n
\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n

\nSimilarly,
\nthe addition of the boarders here at St. Dominic\u2019s has been a work of divine
\nprovidence. We are very blessed to have such wonderful and loving girls! <\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n
