Fr Albert, O.P. preached the retreat &#8211; and led us to the heights of contemplation while considering the Incarnate Word of God become a little Babe, aided by the Fathers and Doctors of the Church, St Augustine, St Leo, St Bernard, St Thomas Aquinas, and St John of the Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opsisters.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/website2021001-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2588\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">&#8220;There are so many of you!&#8221; &#8211; but Father managed to preach a splendid retreat.<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opsisters.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/website2021002-1-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2589\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">High Mass in the Dominican Rite was celebrated on the Feast of the Epiphany at the conclusion of the Retreat.<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opsisters.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/website2021003-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2590\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">The six Sisters who were renewing their vows lit their candles during the Creed.<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opsisters.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/website2021004-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2591\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">There wasn&#8217;t enough room in the sanctuary for six prostrations, so two had to be in the aisle.<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>All too soon it was time for school to begin. The boarders came back and were pleasantly surprised by the &#8220;re-modelled&#8221; kitchen and refectory.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opsisters.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/website2021006-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2580\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Gwen and Therese whipping up some brownie magic as Sr Josephine and Sr Lucia look on.<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opsisters.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/website2021009-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2583\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">The favourite part of the week for the boarders is recreation with the Sisters: volleyball!<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>School began with a whole-school Mass. Before the Mass, all the Sisters and staff of the three schools took the Anti-Modernist Oath and the Tridentine Profession of Faith.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opsisters.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/website2021007-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2581\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">The first school Mass was the votive Mass of the Holy Ghost.<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opsisters.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/website2021008-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2582\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">The Anti-Modernist Oath begins the school year, with each Sister placing her hand on the Gospels as she promises to guide the pupils according to the principles of the Faith.<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Candlemas was celebrated in our little chapel of Loreto, with the Sisters&#8217; procession winding around the building. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opsisters.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/website2021011-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2585\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Singing the chants according to the Dominican Rite&#8230;.<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opsisters.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/website2021012-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2586\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">The ceremonial prescribes that we hold our candles lit throughout Mass, until the Offertory antiphon.<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opsisters.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/website2021013-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2587\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">It&#8217;s a lot trickier than it looks &#8211; especially when one has to keep the flame away from things that catch fire really easily (like veils).<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opsisters.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Nutella-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2594\" width=\"768\" height=\"576\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">The Form 5 French Class had a Crepe making class. <\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opsisters.org.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/IMG_8275-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2595\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">The girls seem to be enjoying school!<\/mark><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been quite a while since any news for posted &#8211; not because there was no activity &#8211; but rather because there was so much going on!
